Key trends such as shared resource pools, standardization and virtualization are driving greater interest in data center automation and real-time infrastructure (RTI). Yet most clients lack standardization and use of best practices in their server configurations, a prerequisite for greater levels of automation. This presentation highlights best practices in physical and virtual server configuration management across the entire life cycle, from server provisioning to patching to application provisioning to compliance and auditing. It also explores opportunities to achieve greater data center automation beyond servers, including real-time infrastructure initiatives such as dynamic provisioning and re-purposing. |
Key Issues:
|
- Why is server provisioning and configuration management a critical process, and how does virtualization affect it?
- What configuration management best practices will provide the best return on value and prepare you for RTI?
- How is the vendor landscape changing to address virtual and physical configuration management requirements as well as RTI?
