Traditionally, networking has been viewed as a separate and distinct technology “silo” from data center technologies such as computing and storage. However, going forward, networking must be viewed as an integral part of the data center infrastructure. In so doing, networking can enable real-time infrastructure (RTI)--Gartner’s future vision with the attributes of lower cost, higher service levels and greater agility. Networking leads to higher data center performance – and enables the data center domain to be extended to the entire enterprise and even beyond, to business partners and “cloud computing”, for example. |
Key Issues:
|
- How will networking evolve within the data center?
- How will networking extend the domain of the data center to the enterprise and beyond?
- How can networking evolution best be managed?
