 The perspectives of application owners and business partners are required to analyse potential vulnerabilities and risks, and to gain buy-in and funding for risk treatment and mitigation efforts. If they do not participate in risk assessments, such managers and partners abrogate responsibility and accountability, often leaving IT and information security an unfunded mandate. This is bad because line-of-business managers and partners may take risks that might otherwise be considered unacceptable. |
