While great leaders, in the words of John D. Rockefeller, turn disasters into opportunities, unfortunately, in the wrong hands, great opportunities can be turned into unmitigated disasters. Such is the case of the brilliant, experienced, but “irritating” architect who led a multi-year effort that wasted millions of dollars and set his organization’s EA clock significantly back in time. This session will demonstrate how this architect misread the business context, power dynamics and the role of EA. We will then review approaches that can avoid those missteps and help you “lead from the back” in a way that works for the short- and long-term interests of your enterprise, and the individuals involved or affected by your EA program. |
