Phillip R. Sargeant
Phil Sargeant is Managing Vice President for the Dataquest Global Storage Team. His primary research specialty is storage hardware systems and storage management software, his secondary focus is server hardware and server operating systems.
Prior to joining Gartner in April 2000, Mr Sargeant spent most of the previous 25 years working for a number of major storage hardware vendors, including Hitachi Data Systems, EMC and StorageTek. Mr Sargeant holds a Diploma in Applied Chemistry and a Bachelor of Applied Science.
Mr Sargeant monitors and comments on the major storage hardware technologies and major storage vendors. He also monitors the major server vendors, server technologies and major operating platforms including z/OS, Solaris, HP-UX, AIX, Linux and Microsoft Windows.
Mr Sargeant spends a good deal of time liaising with vendors and end-users providing advice and guidance about the storage market including storage consolidation, virtualization and the technologies associated with Real Time Infrastructure.
