Information electrifies organizations. Like electricity, information is generated, distributed and consumed. Business analytics is the network supplying this vital information to decision makers. Operational systems, data warehouses and the internet are generators of the content that must be regulated and transmitted hrough this enterprise wide network. BI transformers turn information into intelligence and analytic applications power decisions. In short it’s a complex system that needs careful management. This keynote will explore how practitioners of BI and analytics are the energy suppliers that power their organizations decisions.

Learning lessons from a prisoner of war, a celebrity chef, a rebellious colonel and the world’s most incompetent toaster engineer, the writer Tim Harford urges us to face up to the complexity of the world. Harford argues that we over-rate intuition and expert judgement, and dramatically undervalue humility, experimentation and rigorously testing our ideas in the fi eld.
