Bill HostmannA BI competency center (BICC) needs to shift the focus of BI from technology to business application and value. The aim is to engage business users in multiple phases of a BI initiative – a challenge given the scope of resources to be managed and integrated. An overview of models and factors is shown for designing a BICC, with examples of successful implementations of case studies.
Key Issues:
  • What are the core skills and competencies needed to support a BICC?
  • What are the organizational and funding models for a BICC?
  • What are the best practices for using BI technologies skillfully to gain insight for better decision making?
