Anthony BradleyService-oriented architecture (SOA) is the means to application agility, the Web is the platform for application ubiquity. Combined, the two phenomena have an amplified effect on enterprise IT practices, opportunities, challenges and futures. We look at the application architectural patterns associated with basic and advanced SOA as they exert influence on, and are influenced by, the massive innovations of the Web.
Key Issues:
  • How will enterprise, consumer and global business innovation influence the evolution of software applications?
  • What architectural patterns are emerging from innovations in SOA and Web business?
  • What user best practices and vendor best strategies are resulting from the rapidly growing architectural richness of the Web and the enterprise?
