 The IT industry loves to talk about “change.” And retrospectively, there’s no denying there’s been lots of it. But all this talk of change, in the context of proactive decision making, is often not too helpful. Why not? Because changing technical, business, and economic factors seldom creates a clean break from one environmental condition to another. Change, mostly, complicates decision making. That means IT organisations need to be focused on the evolving criteria that impact these decisions – they need to find balance between factors which seem contradictory. This presentation will be exploring four dichotomies facing application professionals today: control vs. autonomy, “in here” vs. out there (on-premise vs. cloud), owned vs. shared assets, and complexity vs. simplicity. |
